
Dr Paul Ainsworth
MBchB, FRACS (Urol)
Dr Ainsworth is a fully qualified Urologist whose areas of interest include prostate, kidney and bladder cancer, incontinence, complex stone disease, endoscopic
and laparascopic urology. He also has received extensive training in the USA in penile prosthesis and male incontinence. He also offers a broad range
of general urological services.
Dr Ainsworth attended Scots College, Wellington, New Zealand and undertook his medical training at Otago Univeristy, Dunedin, New Zealand (MBchB Otago
1992). He began his surgical training at the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in 1996. After completing 5 years of general surgical training he commenced
urology in 2001 and was awarded his Fellowship in Urology in 2003 (FRACS Urol) graduating with the Best Registrar Award for 2003. He has trained at
the John Hunter Hospital Newcastle, Prince of Wales Hospital in Randwick, Sydney and Orange Base Hospital. He completed his training as a Fellow at
the University Hospital of Cardiff, Wales. There he received subspecialty training in laparoscopy, pelvic oncology and complex urological reconstruction
surgery.
Dr Ainsworth has private consulting rooms in Hamilton, Newcastle and in Maitland. He operates privately at Lingard Private Hospital and Maitland Private
Hospital. He admits public patients to the John Hunter Hospital, the Royal Newcastle Centre and Maitland Public Hospital. He also runs public clinics
at the Royal Newcastle Centre.
