What is the da Vinci System?

With the da Vinci Surgical System, surgeons operate through just a few small incisions. The da Vinci System features a magnified 3D high-definition vision system and tiny wristed instruments that bend and rotate far greater than the human hand. As a result, da Vinci enables your surgeon to operate with enhanced vision, precision and control.

The da Vinci System represents the latest in surgical and robotics technologies. Your surgeon is 100% in control of the da Vinci System at all times. da Vinci technology translates your surgeon’s hand movements into smaller, precise movements of tiny instruments inside your body.

What is the Mako Robotic Arm Assisted Technology?

The Mako technology provides your surgeon with a patient-specific 3-D model to pre-plan your joint replacement. This technology allows intra operative simulation to ensure the perfect plan is created before any bone is resected. During surgery, your surgeon guides the Mako robotic-arm based on your patient-specific plan. This allows the surgeon to remove only the diseased bone, preserving healthy bone and soft tissue, and assists your surgeon in positioning the implant based on your personal anatomy.

Benefits of Robotic Surgery

Compared to traditional open surgery, robotic surgery procedures offer the following potential benefits:
• Lower complication rate
• Shorter hospital stay
• Less blood loss and less chance for a transfusion, and a
• Lower hospital readmission rate
